Head of Kanal13 sentenced to two years in prison

The trial of the criminal case of Kanal13 Internet TV Head Aziz Orujov has ended in Baku, oxu.az reports. According to the decision, Orujov was sentenced to two years in prison. The state prosecutor requested a sentence of two years and six months in prison.

Aziz Orujov was detained on November 27 last year. A case was initiated against him under Article 188.2 (unauthorized construction on a land plot without ownership, use or lease rights) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

On November 28, the court chose arrest as a preventive measure for him. Later, Orujov was additionally charged under Article 206.3.2 (smuggling committed by a group of persons by prior agreement).
