Criminal case initiated in connection with illegal felling of trees that caused damage to nature in the amount of 3 million manats

In Sabirabad and Terter regions, cases of illegal felling of trees were revealed, which caused damage to the environment in the amount of about 3 million manats, Report informs with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

During the investigation, it was established that in Sabirabad district, officials of Azera Toxumçuluq, Aran Agro and other legal entities, and in Terter district – individuals illegally destroyed a significant number of green spaces, including trees and shrubs. The amount of damage to the environment is estimated at 3 million manats.

Based on these facts, criminal cases have been initiated under Articles 188.3 (violation of the right of ownership, use or lease of land plots), 259.2.4 (illegal cutting of trees, shrubs and other green spaces that caused major damage) and 308.2 (abuse of power that resulted in serious consequences) of the Criminal Code. The case materials have been transferred to the prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for further investigation.
