Supreme Court reduces sentence of woman accused of attempted murder of husband

A court hearing was held in Baku on the cassation appeal of Lala Imashova, convicted of attempted murder of her husband, Oxu.Az reports. The Supreme Court, chaired by Judge Teyyub Mukhtarov, decided to reduce her sentence from seven to four years.

Earlier, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced L. Imashova to nine years in prison. Later, the Baku Court of Appeal reduced this term to seven years.

L. Imashova was found guilty under Article 29, 120.1 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the charges, during an argument, the woman hit her husband, Jeyhun Imashov, on the head with an axe, as a result of which he received serious injuries.
