Azerbaijani citizen on international wanted list extradited from Kazakhstan

A citizen of Kazakhstan, Shahin Mammadov, who was on the international wanted list on charges of large-scale fraud, has been extradited from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. As Report informs, his extradition took place within the framework of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the two countries and in accordance with the Convention “On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases” of October 7, 2002.

Mammadov was wanted in a case initiated by the Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. He is charged with a crime under Article 178.3.2 (fraud on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Mammadov, who was detained in Kazakhstan, was handed over to the Azerbaijani side and brought to the country under the escort of employees of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
