Attempt to smuggle over 28 kg of drugs from Iran prevented

State Border Service (SBS) officers prevented an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the SBS. Thus, as a result of operations conducted on the service territory of the Horadiz border detachment of the border troops, over 28 kg of drugs were seized.

Two suspects were detained as part of the measures.

On March 25, 22.4 kg of marijuana and 490 M-40 methadone tablets were found and seized in the border zone.

On April 6, the border detachment’s attention was drawn to two people near the state border. During the operational actions, residents of the Agdash region were detained – Bakhshaliyev Bakhshaly Kamil oglu (born in 1993) and Kerimov Ilgar Ilham oglu (born in 1996), who tried to import 5.7 kg of marijuana into the country.

Operational and investigative measures on the facts are ongoing.
