Search for a thief is a violation of his rights
According to “Interfax” referring to the local press, the Estonian police refused to seek thief who stole a mobile phone due to the fear of violating his rights.
According to the victim, the police informed him that the positioning of the phone to locate the offender violates the right to privacy of the latter. This position was confirmed to reporters also a chief of the criminal bureau Prefecture of settlement Põhja, where the incident occurred. According to him, shadowing seriously violates human rights, so the police are trying to resort to such measures only as a last resort.
In the Estonian inspection said that the positioning of the phone in the course of a criminal investigation by law enforcement agencies can not be considered a violation of privacy of personal data thief.
The victim believes that the police are simply too lazy to look for his phone. The agency notes that this assumption is indirectly confirmed by the head of the criminal bureau, who said that law enforcement authorities can not deal with every petty theft.
