Criminal case on AIU officials’ illegal actions sent to court
The investigation of the criminal case launched on Ismayil Mammadov, who worked as a dean at the same university, on the basis of materials of the criminal case on the illegal actions of Azerbaijan International University officials investigated at the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor-General has come to an end.
The investigation discovered that on preliminary arrangement with Elshad Abdullayev and others, Ismayilov Mammadov who worked as the dean of the faculties of State and Municipal Administration and History and Public at the university has obtained AZN 68.300 from different individuals who failed entrance examinations organized by the State Student Admission Committee with the purpose of obtaining a great deal of bribes by deliberately adding false data into documents required for their study at different universities of Ukraine and the Russian Federation and in the second year transferring them to various faculties of Azerbaijan International University without the Education Ministry’s permission. There being reasonable suspicions for their illegal acts they face charges under the Criminal Code’s articles 308.1 (Abusing official powers), 308.2 (when entailed heavy consequences), 311.3.1 (Reception of a bribe on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or organized group) and 311.3.2 (reception of a bribe on a repeated basis), the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
The criminal case was sent to the Baku Court on Grave Crimes for consideration.
The Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General is taking necessary investigative measures on the criminal case of former rector of Azerbaijan International University E. Abdullayev and others.
