Presidential order on pardoning

The order, signed by President Ilham Aliyev on December 29, applies to 78 persons overall, APA reports.

Under the order, 70 convicts are released from the unserved part of their prison sentence; 3 persons are released from community work; 5 others have their fine cancelled.  

The order also applies to editor-in-chief of the Khural Newspaper Avaz Zeynalli, editor-in-chief of the P.S. Nota Newspaper Sardar Alibeyli, lawyer Gurban Mammadov, and members of the board of directors of NIDA Civic Movement Zaur Gurbanli and Uzeyir Mammadli.
