An investigation has begun into abuses by Internet providers. As reported by APA-Economics with reference to the State Service for Antimonopoly Control and Supervision of Consumer Markets, cases of establishing new tariffs for Internet services on a collective basis, the same prices for the same services (the same speeds and packages) have been identified, and this process is carried out by Internet providers operating in the country in an agreed manner.

The report notes that an investigation has been launched to prevent abuses and limit customer choice. The State Service has sent letters of inquiry to market participants, held a number of meetings, and requested relevant information.

Relevant legislative measures will be taken in accordance with the results of the investigation.

Sanan Abbasov (born in 2000) was detained on suspicion of embezzling citizens’ funds through TikTok pages he opened under the names of well-known non-bank credit organizations, Report informs citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, 200 people became victims of the fraud, to whom Abbasov caused damage in the amount of over 350 thousand manats.

During the investigation, it was revealed that S. Abbasov, having fraudulently obtained the personal data of citizens who contacted him, issued microloans in their names in the amount of 100-600 manats, and then transferred these funds to the accounts of his close relative abroad. These funds were then sent to e-wallets within the country, cashed in Ganja and again transferred abroad in the form of foreign currency.

S. Abbasov was detained by police officers when he tried to leave the country. At the moment, measures are being taken to detain his relative living abroad.

Police officers in Baku detained a suspect in fraud by abusing citizens’ trust, Report informs citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the investigation, it was established that the founder of the Az24saat.org news portal, Vugar Gurdganli, made false promises to a number of citizens and, by deception and abuse of their trust, appropriated more than 100 thousand manats.

A criminal case was opened in connection with the fact under the article “fraud” of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and the court decided to impose a preventive measure in the form of arrest on the suspect.

Investigative measures in the criminal case are ongoing.
