In connection with the upcoming early elections to the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan on September 1, 321 international observers have been registered. As Trend reports, this was stated today at a meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panakhov.

In connection with the parliamentary elections, 93,964 local observers were registered. International observers represent 39 organizations and 46 countries.

Extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan are scheduled for September 1, 2024.

Law enforcement agencies identified 157 cases of smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances into the country. As APA reports, this is stated in the report on the results of work to combat drug addiction and drug trafficking for January-July 2024.

According to these facts, 1 ton 524 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances with a total weight of 132.349 g, 13,568 methadone tablets, and 1,470 potent substances were seized from illegal trafficking.

In total, 135 identified crimes were committed by a group of persons; 1 ton 303 kg 877.511 g of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and 85 g of potent substances were seized from illicit trafficking based on these facts.

Previously convicted persons committed 1,780 criminal acts; 1 ton 344 kg 818.1 g of various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were confiscated from them.

In the Siyazan region, a suspect was arrested for illegally cultivating plants containing narcotic substances. As Report was informed in the Guba regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the activities carried out by employees of the Siyazan district police department, 41 hemp bushes weighing 81 kilograms, grown by local resident Mirzafar Ramazanov, and 1 kilogram of marijuana were discovered.

A criminal case was initiated into the fact, and M. Ramazanov was arrested as a suspect by court decision.

In the village of Poylu, Agstafa region, unknown masked people committed a robbery on a residential building, the Western bureau of Report informs, citing the Ganja regional press service group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The attackers broke into a house belonging to local resident Tarana Aliyeva and stole money. An investigation into this fact has already begun.

It is alleged that T. Aliyeva was engaged in usury.
