Supreme Court to consider appeals by I. Mammadov and T. Yagublu

The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hold a hearing on cassation appeals filed by imprisoned co-chairman of REAL Movement Ilgar Mammadov and deputy chairman of Musavat PartyTofig Yagublu, lawyer Nemet Kerimli told APA t

The Supreme Court started a hearing on their appeals on January 13. The judges stressed the need for time to study additional facts regarding the criminal cases and become familiar with the cases in detail. Therefore, the trial was adjourned.

Lawyers Nemat Karimli and Fuad Aghayev asked the court to terminate criminal proceedings against the defendants and abolish judgments.

Ilgar Mammadov and Tofig Yagublu were arrested over Ismayilli events.

Shaki Court of Grave Crimes sentenced to Ilgar Mammadov to 7 years and Tofig Yagublu 5 years in prison. Shaki Court of Appeal rejected the appeal against the judgment.
