Former office head accused in embezzlement

A former head of the office of one of Azerbaijan’s state committees is believed to have fled the country after embezzling $170,000 from a citizen under the guise of granting him/her a position of executive authority deputy head, lawyer Adem Mammadov announced on social networks.

The lawyer did not mention the names of the committee and that official.

The person accused of embezzlement is the former head of the office of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, Safar Imanov, APA reports.

The State Committee appealed to the Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General early February 2016 in order to investigate the case.
