Two journalists detained in Azerbaijan on fraud charges

Ramil Muradov, executive secretary of the Mozalan magazine, and Chingiz Ibadov, editor-in-chief of the “Dövlət və İctimai fikir” newspaper and the website “Obyektiv xəbər.com”, have been caught red-handed in Azerbaijan’s Khirdalan city while receiving copies of documents and 1,300 manats of the 4,000 manats agreed upon from certain citizens in return for their “service”, the Interior Ministry told APA on April 20, 2016.

Further investigations made it clear that they have posted information on social networking sites and through some web-based media outlets misinformation against state interests as well as half truth information that the latter have faced unfounded prosecution from Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies and had their rights violated them.

The fact is under investigation.
