Protest action in Ankara: dozens of detainees

The police detained 61 protesters in Ankara against the arrest of two teachers who had previously been dismissed and announced a hunger strike in connection with this, haqqin.az reports.

Earlier, the Turkish court arrested teachers Nuriye Gulmen and Semih Ozakchu, who went on a hunger strike to protest their dismissal in the purge after the coup attempt last July. According to the court’s decision, they acted on behalf of the left radical extremist group “Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party – Front”, banned in Turkey.

It is noted that the police demanded that the participants of the unauthorized action in Kyzylai Square in the center of the Turkish capital disperse, and when they refused, they used water cannons and tear gas to disperse
