Fraud suspects arrested by police

An owner of one of the pharmacies located in the village of Khokmali contacted the Gobu police station of the Absheron District Police Department and said that two unknown persons, who introduced themselves as employees of one of the state structures, said that they had come with a check and demanded 1,000 manat for not being fined, reports oxu.az with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Operatives detained residents of the capital, suspected of extortion, Arif Mammadov and Khalig Rahimov at the moment when they were taking money from the victim, and taken to the police station. During the investigation, it was established that they were not employees of any state institution. The forms that the men brought with them, as well as the certificates, turned out to be fake.

During a personal search, money obtained through blackmail and other material evidence were found and confiscated from the detainees. In their testimony, A. Mammadov and Kh. Rahimov admitted that they had committed similar acts against the owners of several pharmacies in the Garadagh, Surakhani, Narimanov and Yasamal districts of the capital.

The collected materials were sent to continue the investigation to the Investigation Department of the Absheron District Police Department.
