The prosecutor petitioned for the conviction of former Foreign Ministry officials to 7 years in prison

The court investigation of the criminal case of the former head of the Department of Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Farhad Mollazade and the official of the Consular Department Salim Alizade has been completed, APA reports.

So, at the trial on December 15, 2021, held in the Baku Court for Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Afgan Hajiyev, the public prosecutor spoke.

Taking into account the presence of mitigating circumstances in the criminal case, the prosecutor requested for the accused Farhad Mollazade and Salim Alizade 7 years in prison using Article 62 of the Criminal Code.

It was noted that the measure of restraint in the form of house arrest, chosen in relation to the accused, should be changed to detention.

It should be noted that the defendants were detained as a result of an operation carried out by the State Security Service. They were charged under articles 179.4 (embezzlement on an especially large scale), 308 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code. In relation to them, the Sabail District Court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention. After some time, the court released them under house arrest.
