Ex-lawyer arrested for fraud

Vugar Safarli, a well-known ex-lawyer, has been arrested in Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports. He has been practicing law for a long time and is accused of fraud on an especially large scale. Using the confidence of citizens, V. Safarli appropriated 200,000 manats.

Among them are the well-known blogger Sabina Katanova. She suffered damage in the amount of more than 130,000 manats.

By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of three months was chosen in relation to V. Safarli. Currently, investigations are ongoing on this fact.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Bar Association Anar Baghirov said that V. Safarli had previously been a member of the organization.
