Commission: Drugs worth AZN 78 million seized this year

In January-April 2022, law enforcement agencies seized more than 2,492 kg of various drugs and psychotropic substances based on 3,961 criminal facts, APA reports citing Ali Ahmadov, chairman of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

According to the chairman, 829 kg of confiscated drugs and psychotropic substances were smuggled into the country. And according to the results of the investigation of criminal cases related to the illegal circulation of drugs and psychotropic substances, 2,353 people were brought to criminal responsibility, including 36 foreigners. The total value of drugs seized during the reporting period is estimated at 78 million manats.
