National Parks Open Day Tomorrow

In connection with the International Day for Biological Diversity, on May 22, 2022, the national parks of Azerbaijan will have an “Open Doors Day”, APA reports citing the representative of the Biodiversity Protection Service Arza Babayeva.

According to A. Babayeva, all components of the country’s natural environment are protected in a large area that surrounds national parks, thereby contributing to the protection of the rich biological diversity of the planet.

She noted that in 2000, Azerbaijan joined the International Convention on Biological Diversity, the foundation of which was laid in 1992 in Nairobi (Kenya) for the coordinated activities of world countries in the field of protecting the biological heritage of the planet, and since that year, annually on May 22, the country celebrates as International Day for Biological Diversity.
