Attempt to import a large consignment of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan prevented

Gang members who tried to transport 83 kg of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan have been detained, Report news agency reported citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

As a result of a joint special operation, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Service detained smugglers who were trying to smuggle a large consignment of drugs into the country.

During the event, residents of the city of Sheki, previously convicted Famil Aliyev and Elchin Mammadov, were detained. A total of 83 kg of narcotic substances were found and seized from them, including 69 kg of marijuana, 14 kg of opium and methamphetamine.

On the fact, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen against the detainees.
