The State Security Service detained a terrorist who was declared dead a few years ago

In March 2023, a trial was held against Shahin Salayev, one of the members of the ISIS terrorist organization who participated in armed conflicts outside of Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports. There are a number of interesting points in the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service of the Azerbaijan Republic against the terrorist.

Sh. Salaev, who was detained by the State Security Service and brought to Azerbaijan in 2023, has 10 years of combat experience in the Syrian-Iraqi territory. In 2016, by decision of the Surakhani District Court, he was declared dead during armed conflicts abroad.

Sh. Salaev, currently listed as dead according to documents, appeared before the court to choose a measure of restraint in the criminal case in which he was detained.

He refused to answer the judge’s questions, saying that he did not recognize the courts of a secular state.
