In connection with environmental offenses, the prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case

The Department of Extra-Criminal Proceedings of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan has conducted an investigation in connection with environmental offenses in different regions of the country, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the supervisory agency.

During the investigation, it was found that as a result of cutting down 111 trees in Gabala, Lerik and Zagatala regions, damage to nature was caused in the amount of more than 23,000 manats.

Based on these facts, criminal cases were initiated under Articles 259.2.3, 259.2.4 (illegal felling of trees by a person using his official position and causing damage on a large scale) and 308.1 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and sent to the relevant prosecutor’s office and internal cases for investigation.
