Person detained for misappropriation of citizens’ funds through social networks

A man has been detained in Baku, who, abusing the trust of citizens on the social network Instagram, fraudulently took possession of their money, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

Thus, in the course of an operation carried out by officers of the 18th police department of the Narimanov District Police Department, the previously wanted Firuddin Hasanov was detained. It was established that the man, accessing the public profile on the social network, contacted those who were on the list of friends of the person concerned. After that, F. Hasanov, indicating himself the owner of this page on Instagram, began to ask citizens for a certain amount of money to borrow with a transfer to a card. Having obtained the money, he blocked the mobile phone numbers and accounts of the victims in social networks so that they could not contact him. He contacted his victims mainly through two numbers – (055) 460-50-04 and (070) 827-50-50.

The investigation into these facts is ongoing. Victims of the illegal actions of F. Hasanov can report this to the local police, as well as call the Call Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “102” or write to the official pages of the department in social networks.
