Electronic security service warns citizens

The Electronic Security Service (ESS) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan has warned citizens about phishing links sent via the Telegram messenger, oxu.az reports citing the ESS.

According to the information, after clicking on the link, the user is required to enter the mobile phone number that he used when registering with Telegram. Then a confirmation code is sent to him. After entering the confirmation code, the user’s Telegram account and correspondence are in the hands of attackers. Further, the bot, using the captured account, sends phishing links on behalf of the user to his contacts in Telegram.

The Electronic Security Service urges citizens to be wary of such messages. It is recommended that when receiving messages with suspicious links on behalf of an institution, first clarify the information with the institution itself. Citizens are advised not to enter their bank details, mobile phone numbers and other personal information on unknown Internet resources. In addition, you cannot share the sent verification code with anyone.
