Those accused of attempting to murder Fazil Mustafa sentenced

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced those accused of attempting to murder Fazil Mustafa, a member of the Milli Majlis of the 6th convocation, Report informs. Azer Sarizhanov was sentenced to life imprisonment, Sabuhi Shirinov to 20 years, Rashad Akhmedov to 19, Elshad Askerov to 18, and Emin Aliyarov to 4 years in prison.

The trial at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes was chaired by Judge Elnur Nuriyev.

The incident occurred on March 28 last year in the village of Zabrat in the Sabunchu district. Fazil Mustafa was attacked in front of his house. As a result, Mustafa received gunshot wounds.

Based on the fact, the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service opened a criminal case under Article 277 (Encroachment on the life of a statesman or public figure) and Article 228.2.1 (Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, components for them, ammunition by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
