The court did not satisfy the complaint of a foreigner accused of espionage on the territory of Azerbaijan

A trial was held on an appeal against the verdict against foreign citizen Gaedi Mohammad Najaf oglu, accused of committing espionage on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. APA reports that today at the Baku Court of Appeal, at a meeting chaired by Judge Habil Mammadov, the verdict of the first instance court was upheld, and the appeal of the foreign citizen was rejected.

It is reported that based on the numerous evidence collected, it was established that Gaedi Mohammad Najaf oglu, on instructions from a foreign intelligence service, collected information representing state secrets in order to use it to the detriment of the security of Azerbaijan, including personal information about law enforcement officers of Azerbaijan, trying to establish personal contacts with them and involve them in secret cooperation with intelligence agencies of a foreign state.

Gaedi Mohammad Najaf oglu was prosecuted under Article 276 (espionage) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic, and the court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest against him.
